500 coronavirus-hit families receive food baskets from Qatar Charity

Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed food parcels to some 500 families in Al Khor and Doha, as part of its continued humanitarian initiative targeting 400 families affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic within the State of Qatar.

The latest distribution of the food baskets to 120 affected families took place in Al khor, a city in Qatar, in cooperation with the Qatar Charity Center for Community Development in the city. Earlier, some 380 families in Doha have received food parcels sufficient for a family for two weeks.

Abdullah Maqlad al-Muraikhi, member of the Municipal Council for constituency 25, said that this assistance comes within the measures taken by the State of Qatar to ease the suffering of those affected by the pandemic. He also urged companies and individuals to support the initiative, especially in these blessed days of Dhu al-Hijjah to multiply their rewards and maximize the number of beneficiaries.

Mr. Khamis Jassem Al-Muraikhi, director of men’s branch of the Qatar Charity Center for Community Development Center in Al-Khor, said that 120 families were provided with food baskets, pointing out to the activities held by the center in the city.

Qatar Charity has been keen to work with its local partners from both the government and private sectors to extend support to the coronavirus-hit people. It has earlier distributed a good number of food, preventive, and hygiene items, and multilingual awareness leaflets since the coronavirus hit.
