Qatar Charity (QC), since it was established more than three decades ago, has worked to serve as a bridge between the impoverished and needy on the one hand and the philanthropists, volunteers, and supporters on the other hand. In parallel with implementing various humanitarian interventions and developmental projects, it has been keen on carrying out awareness-raising efforts, harnessing all energies, and motivating all sections of the community, including individuals, institutions, companies, and initiatives to participate in supporting charity work and implementing humanitarian and volunteer activities through a variety of tools, means, and programs.

On the International Day of Charity, observed on September 5 annually, this report will shed light on Qatar Charity's most significant efforts in engaging various segments of the community in charitable work and motivating them to support it. It is worth noting that the United Nations designated this day for precisely this purpose.

Ezdehar, The Incubator for Initiatives and Volunteering

Qatar Charity’s Incubator for Initiatives and Volunteering ‘Ezdehar’ was established in October 2022, and its online platform was launched in February 2023.

‘Ezdehar’ aims to promote a culture of initiative within the community, channel the energies of youth towards charity and community work, instill and enhance innovative and creative values in the community, provide a database of volunteers, and train and guide them.

It provides several services, the most important of which are: training volunteers, providing volunteer opportunities with relevant organizations, supporting youth and community initiatives, and offering consulting services in volunteer management. Some of the most significant achievements of ‘Ezdehar’ are the following:

  • It has a database that includes more than 21,000 male and female volunteers.
  • The total number of volunteer hours, since its launch, has reached 610,133 hours.
  • The number of volunteering opportunities is 55.
  • The number of training hours is 3,321.
  • It launched voluntary program for specialists.

Supporting Volunteer Initiatives

Since its establishment, ‘Ezdehar’ has provided support to 9 volunteer initiatives in Qatar, and it has supported a total of 12 initiative program.

During Ramadan, ‘Ezdehar’ organized the ‘Initiatives’ Challenge-4’ program, which is a competition between several volunteer initiatives to innovatively implement community programs to make a positive impact on the local community.

Humanitarian Ambassador

Qatar Charity has bestowed the title of humanitarian ambassador upon several local and international figures who possess the ability to influence, with the aim of leveraging their fame to spread awareness about humanitarian issues and support charitable campaigns.

In February, Qatar Charity named the Qatari Champion Mutaz Barshim as a humanitarian ambassador. Its previous humanitarian ambassadors included Frédéric Oumar Kanouté, a professional footballer, Mohammed Saadoun Al-Kuwari, a prominent media figure, and others.

Charity Partner (CP) Program

Qatar Charity launched the Charity Partner (CP) program in 2021 to award the CP trademark to companies in exchange for supporting and endorsing charitable and developmental activities as part of their corporate social responsibility. The number of companies that have received this trademark has reached 21 companies and institutions so far.

Collaboration with Community Initiatives, Clubs, and Universities in Implementing Charitable Projects

Qatar Charity continues to provide opportunities for clubs, school and university students, initiatives, and ministries to contribute to supporting and implementing charitable activities. For example, the Qatar Cyclists Center supported the establishment of Al Shaimaa School in Gaza, and is working on financing schools in Somalia, and the ‘Soul Riders’ team contributed to renovating and furnishing old houses within Qatar.

Engaging Journalists, Social Media Influencers, and Donors in Field Visits and Supporting Humanitarian Campaigns

Qatar Charity is keen to include various journalists, social media influencers, activists, and donors in its teams to deliver humanitarian assistance and launch development projects in the field, because of their role in mobilizing support, advocacy, and informing the public about humanitarian issues through media channels and social media networks, as well as encouraging others to donate or continue their contributions.

Qatar Charity also collaborates with influencers in support of its campaigns or humanitarian causes. For example, on the 27th night of Ramadan, some social media influencers, in cooperation with Qatar Charity, organized ‘27th Night Challenge’, a live fundraising drive on YouTube, to provide shelter to for internally displaced persons (IDPs). They succeeded in raising QR 33 million in 3 hours.

Producing Awareness Programs and Media Materials

Qatar Charity produces radio and television programs in collaboration with media outlets, as well as materials and programs published through its social media platforms, to raise awareness about humanitarian issues, promote a culture of volunteer work, and garner support for Qatar Charity's campaigns and projects. Additionally, Qatar Charity’s ‘Ghiras’ magazine and other publications contribute to this mission as well.

Youth Leadership Training / Fazat Shabab Ladaam

The ‘Fazat Shabab Ladaam’ launched by the Ministry of Culture and Sports this year, is a pioneering initiative in Qatar aimed at preparing Qatari youth leaders in the humanitarian and development filed. Qatar Charity played a significant role in developing the program, preparing its training content, selecting trainers, and organizing the program's field trip.

Charity Trips

A ‘Charity Trip’ is a program organized by Qatar Charity for different age groups. Its aim is to provide them with an opportunity to have a unique experience that combines tourism, entertainment, and close interaction with humanitarian fieldwork. The first journey to Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently been completed, and there are two upcoming trips to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Tanzania.
