On the sidelines of the International Book Fair, Qatar Charity is holding several training workshops for adults, including the “Reading a Story from Qatari Heritage” workshop, which was presented by Ms. Noura Al-Rumaihi, and the “Book and Child Creativity” workshop, presented by Ms. Munira Saad Al-Rumaihi.
A workshop on "Reading a Story from Qatari Heritage" was held last Monday, and the same workshop will be implemented next Friday.
the book fair coinciding with the month of Dhul-Hijjah, Ms. Noura Al-Rumaihi chose to shed light on Hajj stories in the past, starting with the method of travel and the dangers surrounding it, all the way to the return of pilgrims to Qatar, where they are greeted by their families at the border with dates and traditional Qatari food to celebrate them.
The effect of reading on children
In a related manner, a workshop was presented entitled
“How does reading affect a child’s upbringing and academic path, and how do we choose books for age groups?” by Ms. Munira Saad Al-Rumaihi, who talked about the role of parents in encouraging children to read books and encourage them to read. In this context, Ms. Munira said: “I am very happy to cooperate with Qatar Charity in this workshop, I sent a message to parents not to link reading to children as a duty, but to turn reading into an enjoyable time.”
Participants' impressions
The participants in the workshop confirmed that they learned several points that they will apply in dealing with their children. In this context, Mrs. Dania Al-Haj said: “I benefited a lot from this workshop, and it drew my attention that reading to children is not only when sleeping. This workshop changed many concepts and beliefs that showed me It is wrong in dealing with the child."
For her part, Mrs. Nagham Al-Amin said: "I thank Qatar Charity for presenting this workshop, which provided me with ways to encourage children to read, and I will work on applying them with my children to encourage them to read and love books."
