Qatar Charity, in partnership with the Emergency Response Team, has launched a major new initiative to restore 300 homes in the Al-Ghab Plain region of western Hama, Syria. This project marks the first phase of a broader home rehabilitation campaign announced during the 27th night of Ramadan under the banner “Giving Lives On”. The campaign, which garnered overwhelming public support and generosity across Qatar, seeks to help rebuild war-affected communities and provide displaced families with safe shelter and restored dignity.
The launch event was attended by Mr. Abdulaziz Haji, Director of Development Operations at Qatar Charity; Mr. Mohammad Jihad Taameh, Deputy Governor of Hama; local council representatives; and members of various civil society organizations.
In his address, Deputy Governor Taameh praised Qatar Charity’s longstanding humanitarian efforts in northern Syria, noting the critical role this project plays in rebuilding not just homes, but lives. He highlighted its significance in improving living conditions for returnees—families who have endured years of displacement—by contributing to stability, safety, and renewed hope in their home communities.
Mr. Abdulaziz Haji remarked:
“It is a privilege to stand with you here in the Al-Ghab Plain for a moment that symbolizes hope, renewal, and shared responsibility. Today, we embark on a journey to restore over 1,500 homes across Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama. This initial phase, which includes 300 homes, is being implemented in close cooperation with the Emergency Response Team. The project forms part of a larger initiative unveiled during the blessed 27th night of Ramadan, through which we aim to help our Syrian brothers and sisters rebuild—not only their homes, but their futures—through compassion, solidarity, and tangible action.”
Participants unanimously agreed that this initiative goes beyond brick and mortar. It is an effort to restore dignity, rebuild lives, and create a foundation for lasting stability. For the many families returning to their long-abandoned villages, it offers not only shelter but the promise of home once again.
