Qatar Charity in Mali
Established in 2008
QC has contributed remarkably and effectively to the development and humanitarian efforts in Mali since 2008. Its projects cover, education, health, house construction, well drilling, supporting poor families, and providing care for orphans and the disabled. They also include income-generating activities and seasonal assistance to the needy in Ramadan and qurbani (Eidu al-Adha). QC has worked in partnership and cooperation with the lo- cal Al Hayah Al Tayyebah Association and other civil society organisations and international partners. Through its projects, QC seeks to alleviate poverty and improve the living conditions of the poor and vulnerable groups. Mali ranks 179th out of 188 countries on the UN Human Development Index.

About Mali
Mali is located in the north-west of the African continent. It is one of the world’s poorest countries. According to 2010 statistics, the population of the country is estimated at 15 million people. In 2011, the country’s economy declined sharply due to the insurgency in the northern areas. By the end of 2011, the drought and the scarcity of crops led to economic decline, the main reason for the spread of poverty in the country. Mali asked for international humanitarian aid and Qatar Charity, was at the forefront of the responders , and through quality projects and programmes, signi cantly contributed to the relief of suffering for many people.
