Bosnian Foreign Minister praises Qatar Charity's projects

The Minister for International Development and the accompanying delegation were received in QC’s office to consult about cooperation and joint coordination. The British delegation was received by Mr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, QC’s CEO; Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Ghamedi, Director of Operations for International Development; and Mr. Jasim Al-Najmawi, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit in International Development. The delegation included Mr. Desmond Swayne, Minister of International Development; Ms. Jessica Ervin, ‎DFID Representative - Gulf States; Mr. Ajay Sharma, UK’s Ambassador in Qatar; Mr. Yousef Isma’il, Secretary for Politics, Economics, and Energy in the British Embassy in Qatar; and Mr. Ollie Sharp, Secretary of the British DFID. His Excellency, Minister of the British International Development, praised QC’s role in the field of international humanitarian work, and expressed his hopes that such bestowal that reflected Qatar’s bright side would continue. Mr. Al-Kuwari welcomed the Minister and the accompanying delegation, and emphasized that QC had a great desire to cooperate and coordinate with the international development agencies and the international organizations which are active in the humanitarian field. This desire –as he said- rose from QC’s concern about relieving the sufferance of the people affected by humanitarian crises around the world, specially in Syria and Yemen. He pointed that QC was organizing a convention in Yemen in February (22-24) in coordination with its partners; the regional and international humanitarian organizations. Mr. Al-Kuwari emphasized the desire of DFID to attend and participate in the convention. A short presentation was delivered about QC, its efforts, and its favored position amongst the international humanitarian organizations. Mr. Al-Kuwari presented a memorial shield to his Excellency, the Minister for British International Development. Mr. Swayne invited QC to visit the Department for British International Development in Britain in order to consult about the different fields of cooperation and coordination.

Qatar Charity brings 450 peopl

Qatar Charity continues its considerable efforts in reconstructing Al Zafer tower in Gaza to finish it as soon as possible in order to bring 50 homeless families, who has been of no shelter for a long time, back to their houses to enjoy a safe, comfortable, and settled life. The project has had generous funding from philanthropists in Qatar, and it’s carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in the Gaza Strip. Great Progress Director of QC office in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Abu Haloub, said, “Though we face troubles regarding the entry of building materials every now and then, we are still working on constructing and finishing Al Zafer Tower. Also, we have made good progress in the current round.” Abu Haloub confirmed that QC is committed to finishing the Tower following the required technical specifications and providing all the safety and security factors, along with paying attention to the quality of the raw materials used as well as the elevators and their ability to go up and down bearing heavy weights. He further added, “The tower accommodates 450 displaced persons who have lost their homes due to the last aggression.” The cost of rebuilding what was severely destroyed, 100 thousand housing units, by the Israeli aggression in 2014 amounted to more than 10 million QR. Accordingly, QC is playing a crucial role in rebuilding the Gaza Strip to assure, by all means, a decent life for citizens. Additional Adjustments Minister of Public Works and Housing in the Palestinian Authority Dr. Mufid al-Hasayneh has praised the State of Qatar's efforts in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, stressing his appreciation of Qatar Charity (International Charity Organization) for the importance it attaches to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, especially rebuilding Al Zafer Tower. Confirming that everything is going well following what they wish for and in a fruitful collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Al-Hasayneh expressed his pleasure for the efforts QC exerts, particularly supervising the implementation of Al Zafer Tower’s reconstruction. He also commended the additional adjustments that have taken place in the tower such as the design,  developing the basement, and providing the proper safety procedures to let the residents feel much better than before. With the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, QC has put in a great deal of effort to carry out various projects to reconstruct the Gaza Strip. In other words, there was a project implemented to rebuild 100 damaged housing units. Besides, 343 thousand dollars have been given to the owners of 373 partly damaged houses, and 139 thousand dollars have been spent on rebuilding 20 completely destroyed houses. In addition, 400 housing units have been renewed in Gaza city and the North of the Strip costing 5 million dollars. Therefore, what has been spent on the destroyed houses was 20 million QR, while the value of reconstructing 1000 housing units was 24 million QR. Coming Back Home The beneficiaries have been very pleased because of rebuilding Al-Zafer Tower, looking forward to going back home as soon as possible. Extending her sincere thanks to the people of Qatar for standing by the Palestinians’ side in such harsh conditions and to QC for its efforts, Mariam Abu Raya explained, “It is an eagerly awaited moment to return to our houses.” Hisham Saqallah, a journalist and one of AL-Zafer Tower’s residents, made clear that he was certain about the tower’s reconstruction and he felt proud that the tower is being reconstructed in order to be one of Gaza’s famous landmarks, pointing out that such a project is a strong hint about the Palestinian determination.

Humanitarian & Development For

Qatar Charity announced that the Humanitarian and Development Forum for Palestine has achieved a host of initiatives and commitments amounting to QAR 100 million.  Qatar Charity said in a press release on Saturday that the organizations and agencies participating in the Forum held in Doha last week have announced a set of commitments through QAR 100 million initiatives aimed at implementing a number of Development Projects in Palestine.    The release pointed out to details of the initiatives and those committed to their implementation in various areas of education, health, economic empowerment, social welfare and others.    The event saw the presence of over 160 participants representing 75 national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations working in charity and humanitarian fields, as well as a large number of researchers, experts and specialists in the field of humanitarian action

Qatar Charity intensifies its

In coordination with Sobol institute, QC has carried out a relief project for the famine-affected people in Yemen in order to continue its relief efforts in Yemen. It included the distribution of food baskets to 2500 families in Hajjah Governorate, which suffers from extreme poverty resulted from the crisis in Yemen. The aid will provide food for 18,000 people for a month. Reducing Famine Running the "Emergency Relief" project in Yemen, QC aims at contribute to relieving famine in the targeted area, whose population suffers from high poverty, rising food prices, fostering a spirit of social solidarity and securing food needs for beneficiaries. "The situation in Yemen is difficult and needs great efforts, but there are some areas that are on the edge of famine, if they still have not fallen victim of it. Abs District, Hajjah Governorate, is one of those areas whose population benefited from the emergency relief project, where Qatar distributed 2,500 food baskets. Each basket, which is enough for each family for a full month, consisted of 25 kilos of flour, 10 kilos of sugar, 10 kilos of rice, oil food, and 1 carton of milk, and 1 carton of beans, in addition to dates," said Mohamed al-Kaabi, QC's Relief Department Director. Future Plans He explained that QC has coming plans to expand the scope of relief work to other affected areas, and will continue to support such projects, taking into account the humanitarian situation in Yemen, and giving it more attention. Al-Kaabi expressed sincere thanks to Qatari and expatriate donors for their great humanitarian efforts aimed at brotherly Yemen, which depict the real image of the generous Qatari society. He said that helping the brothers in Yemen concerning  offering a shelter, food, medicine and other basic needs embodies Qatar’s institutions’ feeling of religious and moral duty towards all those in need in the world. It is noteworthy that the number of beneficiaries of projects and sponsors of QC in Yemen in 2016 has been more than 840 thousand beneficiaries as a result of the ongoing support of the people of Qatar. In light of the crisis and abnormal conditions, QC’s Office has succeeded in completing several relief and development projects and following up the various sponsorships, despite obstacles and difficulties in many governorates of the Republic of Yemen. Areas of Intervention The projects have been divided into seven main areas: relief and food, health, social and educational fields, income-generating projects, Quran memorization and mosques, Poor Homes and Water Projects. The number of beneficiaries was 826,079 people, at a total cost of about 21 million QR.
