As part of its periodic inspection, a delegation from Al Maha Medical visited Al Amal Hospital, in Reyhanlı, which QC had helped establish and is currently contributing to its operation. Such cooperation is considered to be the introduction of a future joint work in offering medical consultation and contributing to conducting studies, making relief plans, and suggesting solutions. This 3-day-long visit is part of the evaluation of the work progress of the medical services offered by the hospital. Its purpose is to identify the hospital's needs for drugs, devices and medical staff. Plus, it is meant to make an annual plan to support the hospital for the year 2016. QC's office in Turkey and Dr. Hamdi Othman, Al Amal Hospital General Director, received the delegation. Dr. Othman was happy with QC's visit and its evaluation of work progress. He also commended QC's cooperation to suggest a strategic visualization for development so as to offer better services to the Syrian patients.   The delegation included Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Jaffali Al Na'imi, Al Maha Co. General Director; Engineer Murad bin Ahmed Yehya, Al Maha Medical CEO in Qatar; Dr. Munir Mohammed Hassan Rayyan, Al Maha Healthcare General Director in UAE; and Mr. Salah Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Marketing and External Affairs Director. The delegation visited the hospital's different units and viewed the work progress in the divisions. They also viewed the way of storing drugs and other medical disposables, and viewed the managerial procedures. Dr. Hamdi mentioned the hospital's achievements in the past three years. First, the hospital started receiving Syrian patients and operating critical surgeries due to complications after the patients' earlier surgeries. Then, thanks to QC support, the hospital developed to include the following clinics: internal medicine, pediatric medicine, general medicine, ophthalmology, ENT, Osteology, Neurology, Maxillofacial surgery, and General and Pulmonary Surgery.   Al Maha Medical is a Qatari company specialized in manufacturing medical and drug products. It has a strategic goal to manufacture all of Qatar's medical needs according to International Quality Standards. The company is also interested in supporting humanitarian work. It has offered several medical aids to different parties. Al Amal Hospital is the only hospital in the region that offers its services to Syrians coming from Syria or are refugees in Turkey. In December 2012, the hospital opened its doors after QC had greatly funded the equipment of most of the hospitals' divisions and paid for its expenses for more than a year. The total of what QC contributed to the hospital in the past 3 years is around 4,000,000 QR. The number of beneficiaries in the year 2014-2015 alone reached 100,250 Syrians. 3,519 surgeries were conducted in the hospital, most of which were critical and specialized. The surgeries included orthopedic, neurological, maxillofacial, general and pulmonary, ophthalmic, plastic, urinary, and ENT. Al Amal Hospital Al Amal Border Hospital was established in the Turkish city “Reyhanlı” near the Syrian borders as one of the qualitative projects implemented by QC for the Syrian people. Al Amal Hospital represents an integrated project where free specialized operations and surgeries can be performed on the wounded Syrians. The hospital also serves to minimize the costs and burdens on charitable associations that pay for the treatment and traveling of the patients. The establishment of the hospital was funded by QC in cooperation with the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) and the Syrian Society for (SY-DER) Humanitarian Aid and Development (SY-DER); the latter is a Syrian Charitable association that provides its services in Turkey. The hospital contains 30 beds, 10 IC rooms, 11 examination rooms, 3 operation rooms, 2 radiography rooms, and one medical laboratory. QC Provides Food for Around 10

Mohammed Rashid Al Ka’bi, “QC has proven its absolute and continuous commitment to offering relief aids to the Syrian refugees so as to alleviate their sufferings and provide all of the necessary means to ensure them a better life.” Around 10,000 Syrian refugees in Arsal, Lebanon, benefited from the relief project implemented by QC. This project was part of its continuous efforts to help and alleviate the sufferings of the displaced Syrians and refugees. The relief project is mainly about providing food baskets for 3 months for the benefit of 1,650 families living in the following camps: Kuwait Al Kheir, Yasar Idlib, An-Nour, Al-Qalamoun, Al Bunyan As-Sabi’, Az-Za’im, and Ar-Rahma. Solidarity In cooperation with Union of Relief and Development Associations, QC implemented the project in Lebanon to secure healthy food for 1,650 Syrian refugees in Arsal. It was implemented to strengthen the concept of solidarity and to avoid any possible future risks that would result from food shortages. As always, QC works hard to offer and secure food for the Syrian people, especially those who are in Lebanon; the targeted category of this project. QC prioritizes the field of food because of its importance. It is one of the most fundamental challenges faced by the refugees and displaced people. Therefore, QC has made it a priority for the relief projects it implements for the Syrian people. Dignified Life Mr. Mohammed Rashid Al Ka’bi, QC Relief Head of Board of Directors, said, “QC has proven its absolute and continuous commitment to offering relief aids to the Syrian refugees so as to alleviate their sufferings and provide all of the necessary means to ensure them a better life.” He emphasized on the fact that QC prioritized refugees-related relief projects since they need such projects the most. “Refugees need our help. They need our full support,” said he. He added that QC will exert more efforts to respond to the humanitarian causes which need help the most. It will do so in cooperation with all of the partners, and the parties interested in the affairs of refugees and displaced Syrians in Syria. Exceptional Efforts In the recent weeks, QC funded a project to support and rehabilitate the medical points and health centers which are open for the patients and injured Syrian refugees in Lebanon and for the displaced Syrians in Syria at a cost of 1,300,000 QR. 8 health institutions in Syria and Lebanon benefited from the project. Among these is Arsal Medical Center which consists of Emergency, Pediatric, Operations, Orthopedic, Radiology, and CT Departments in addition to a Laboratory and patients rooms. It secures the medications for all the sick and injured Syrians. Over 90,000 people benefit from the center yearly. Other centers include Al-Tufail Medical Center to which many Syrian families took refuge –about 850 people benefit from it monthly-, and Shebaa Medical Center which provides medical services to about 150 people monthly. In addition, QC pays for the treatment of the injured Syrians in Al Basha’r in Tripoli in Lebanon. The number of the displaced Syrians and refugees who benefited from QC’s relief projects until the end of last October was 6,083,517. From April 2011 until October 2015, the projects’ costs reached 322,000,000 QR. Due to their difficult conditions, the people inside Syria received 67% of the aids at a cost of 213,063,000 QR. The rest were sent to the Syrian refugees in the surrounding countries: 18% to Lebanon (58,272,000 QR), 8% to Jordan (about 26,889,000 QR), 5.5% to Turkey (19,000,000 QR), and 1.5% to Iraq and other countries to which some Syrians took refuge (4,500,000 QR). The total health costs reached 68,214,000 QR. Qatar Charity Distributes Food

As part of an ongoing effort to deliver aids to the besieged Syrian town of “Madaya", QC managed to distribute food rations to the starving residents of "Madaya" in cooperation with Al Rahma International Charity. QC aid convoy will be followed by other relief convoys during the coming period. QC opened the doors even wider for donations and contributions to the Syrian town of "Madaya”, as part of the Syrian campaign "Syria, Harsh Winter". Aids included prepared food such as wheat, lentils, chickpeas, beans, semolina, sugar, corn and rice, in addition to meals and fresh meat. QC appeals to the Qatari philanthropists and residents to redouble their donations and support their fellow Syrians who are facing hunger and death in the besieged town of "Madaya". Ready-to-eat meals can be donated to the residents of "Madaya" via SMS. The reports of the international humanitarian organizations indicate that the majority of the deceased were elderly people and infants due to the acute shortage of foodstuff, particularly milk. Thousands of Madaya residents and the western countryside of Damascus' residents including "Zabadani" and “Baqin" are facing death, due to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions and the severe cold winter.   It is worth mentioning that QC has launched its campaign "Syria  ...Harsh Winter ", beginning from Rihaniyya area along the Turkish border in order to provide warmth kits for the displaced in Syria, and refugees in southern Turkey. The first batch of the campaign included more than 250,000 pieces that were distributed on 508,000 people. QC delegation distributed 2,000 food baskets to 10,000 Syrian refugees in Rihaniyya city near to the Syrian borders. QC plays a central role to alleviate the suffering of refugees and displaced people in Lebanon. About 10,000 Syrian refugees at the Lebanese city of Arsal have benefited from the relief project carried out by Qatar Charity. The project included distributing food baskets for 3 months in favor of 1650 families living in camps such as Kuwait Al Khair, Yassar Idlib, Al Noor, Al Kalamoon housing, Al Bonian Al sabai, Al Zaeem, and Al Rahma . QC has distributed 1,825 essential materials to 15 Syrian refugees’ camps in Lebanon within “Life’s Backbone” project at a cost of QR 1,825, 000. This project provided assistance for 8,400 Syrian refugees in Lebanon, as part of QC efforts to relief the Syrian refuges, and in light of "Vladimir" snowstorm, that hits Lebanon. QC and Afif 'Asmakh Charity Fo

The agreement included allocating 2,000,000 QC and distributing milk to 6,000 children in Syria QC and Asmakh Charity Foundation signed two agreements to implement relief projects for the people of Madaya in Syria at a cost of 2,000,000 QR. Through this agreement, the people of the city, who are more than 40,000 and suffer from severe famine, will be provided with the basic supplies. Mr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, QC's  CEO and its Representative; and Mr. Ibrahim Ali Abdullah, Afif's CEO and its Representative; signed these agreements.    Saving Dignity The main reason behind these agreements is to save the people suffering from difficult circumstances in Syria; Madaya city in particular where some people died because of hunger. The beneficiaries will be provided with the basic food supplies, yogurt, and milk which are almost nonexistent in Madaya. Furthermore, the besieged people's financial and psychological burdens would be lessened and their dignity will be saved. The main aim is to help those people overcome this crisis. The relief projects are in the form of food baskets that consist of different types of food supplies such as bulgur, humus, meat, sugar, children biscuits, rice, flour, children milk, and beans. Each basket is sufficient for a month. The agreements state that Afif Foundation would fund QC for the implementation of these relief projects. Afif will allocate 2,000,000 QR which will be used to provide the basic food supplies and whatever the people of Madaya would need.   Alleviating the Sufferings According to the agreements, 12,000 bottles of children milk would be distributed to 6,000 children in Syria. Mr. Al Kuwari said, "These agreements are signed in order to help serve the Syrian people in any way possible. We, at QC, know how difficult the circumstances in Syria are which is why we are paying so much attention to them. Thousands of Syrian families suffering from hunger and malnutrition will be saved." He also added that QC will continue to support the Syrian people until they overcome their crisis. Strategic Alliance QC had already signed a number of agreements with Afif Foundation. It was agreed that QC and Afif would cooperate through supporting charity activities, and spreading the culture of cooperation. In addition, QC and Afif Fondation signed a strategic alliance memoranda to reinforce joint cooperation and to establish an exchange of expertise and potentials. Around the same time, they also signed a memoranda of understanding to implement a relief project for Yemen from which 29,000 affected people benefited at a cost of 1,500,000 QR. Through that agreement, people from Aden and Al Hudaydah would receive basic supplies such as food and medications. QC and Afif have also cooperated to relief the refugees of south Sudan in Sudan. Through such strategic alliance, the two parties aim at achieving a group of goals such as reinforcing their regional and international presence, establishing a mutual exchange of expertise and potentials, increasing the chances of having multiple resources, cooperating in certain joint programs and projects, increasing the chances of influencing the developmental and humanitarian issues related to their fields of work, improving their practices in their joint fields of interest, and others.   You can donate to support such projects through the link: Click here
