Qatar Charity helps visually-challenged Palestinian girl shine in Secondary Education Certificate Examination

Despite the loss of her vision, Shaymaa Abulhussein, an 18-year old Palestinian girl belonging to a family with no breadwinner, made excellent academic performance, scoring 93.3 % in the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination. She lives along with her sister and mother in Al-Nasr located south of Rafah in Palestine.

Shaymaa Abulhussein is a very smart and intelligent girl. She has always been determined to realize her dreams, which, as she believes, will not come true without outstanding academic performance.

She says, "Since my childhood, I have been passionate about self-development to overcome a feeling of vulnerability, and for this, I have been determined to outshine throughout the school years until the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination.”

Shaymaa adds that she is very grateful to the people in Qatar and Qatar Charity for supporting her since her childhood, which enabled her to excel in her studies, without a feeling of the need or the helplessness.

She is one of those sponsored by Qatar Charity. She has so far been enjoying the sponsorship’s benefits since she was a 7-year-old child, which contributed to meeting her all needs, including Braille machine, which helps her read and write.

The girl, “I could not achieve this feat without being sponsored by Qatar Charity, which has paved the way for my successes.” 

Qatar Charity will continue to sponsor Shaymaa, as a person with special needs, but she hopes to obtain a scholarship for her university study.

The number of secondary school graduates, sponsored by Qatar Charity, during the current year 2020 in Rafah, has reached 90 persons.

The number of those sponsored by Qatar Charity, such orphans, the handicapped and poor families, exceeds 16,000 persons in Palestine, who benefit from the various projects, activities and services provided by Qatar Charity.
