Qatar Charity Launches its cam

In its third edition, the campaign has awarded a number of HMC officials, aiming at highlighting the role that state institutions play for the development of the nation.

On behalf of Qatar Charity, Mr. Farid Saddiqi, head of social programs, presented honor shields and gratitude certificates to a number of HMC officials including: Dr.Abdulatif Muhammed Al khal – Director of Development of Physicians, Dr. Wafaa Salah Al Yazidi - Head of Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Mrs. Aysha Al Khayareen - Director of Nursing and Rehabilitation at Muaither Complex for Care and Rehabilitation.

At the honorary reception, Mrs. Badrya Al Yaqoot – Head of donation department in QC- pointed out to the importance of the projects and achievements that state institutions have accomplished over the past recent years. Mrs. Al Yawqoot also praised the previous two editions of “Positive Society” by Qatar Charity, as the first one had introduced Qatar Charity as humanitarian and developmental institution, while the second one had highlighted the role of ministry of education and high education as well as the most influential Qatari females who contribute in supporting People with Special Needs and promoting their cause in the Qatari society.

Developing healthcare:

Director of Development of Physicians in HMC , Dr.Abdulatif Muhammed Al khal has briefed the audience about the services that Hamad Medical Corporation provides, as well as the latest medical technologies that are used to improve the quality of medical services in the country. Dr. Al Khal also praised Qatar’s efforts to promote and develop healthcare sector, and ensuring to meet the latest International medical standards.

He noted that Hamad Medical Corporation consists of 10 public and specialty hospitals, as well as homecare and ambulance services.
In his speech, Al-Khall focused on the mechanism adopted by the HMC to prepare future doctors and provide them with continuing vocational medical education. He pointed out that in order to develop and nurture future doctors, HMC has established specialized medical training programs.

Rehabilitation:

Dr. Wafa Saleh Al-Zubaidi, Head of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine Department, explained that the administration offers a number of rehabilitation programs and a comprehensive range of services for the medical and rehabilitation management of patients suffering from physical, mental, psychological and social disabilities or patients suffering from neurological diseases. Dr. Al Zubaidi stated that HMC mission is to achieve an international status as a center of excellence in the provision of health care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.

She stated that the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine is working to guide the patients’ therapeutic path and facilitate the stages of their improvement to enable them to reach their maximum abilities at a physical, psychological and social levels. Dr. Al Zubaidi added that the interaction of society is a necessity and a motivation, as it encourages the effectiveness of the provided services.

Mrs. Aisha Al-Khayarin, Director of Nursing and Rehabilitation at Muaither Care and Rehabilitation Complex, concluded by addressing the importance of nursing in healthcare system. She emphasized on the role that nurses play in the healthcare system through their constant medical invention when and where needed.

Al-Ahli Visits Keneya to Conte

A delegation from the Al Ahli Sports Club Team, contesting in Qatar Charity’s “Competitors 2” Program, visited Kenya to know about the nature and location of the developmental project, which is intended to be implemented in the country.

The team's visit to Kenya has resulted in determining the type and location of the project, which includes building a health center, drilling an artesian well, and sponsoring 100 orphans and 100 People with Special Needs.

The project will be implemented in the outskirts of the capital Nairobi at a total cost of about 1.7 million riyals, due to the need of the people for such projects in these places, according to the field assessment.

The visit was organized in the context of the competition with Al Wakrah Sports Team, which recently visited Indonesia and then started marketing its project to build a school with 6 classrooms and 25 houses at a cost of at a cost of 1.5 million riyals, with the aim to benefit 1,250 people.

The delegation included the President of Al Ahli Sports Club Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Thani, Ali Al-Kuwari, Captain Abdullah Jassim, Captain Abdullah Saad, Captain Nasser Salimin, and Ibrahim Fetian from the QC’s Media Department.

Field Tours

The Al-Ahli Sports Club’s delegation began the tours with a visit to the Qatar Charity’s Regional Office in Nairobi and came to know the activities and achievements of the office.

The delegation also participated in the opening of Al Habib Mosque built by Qatar Charity in the Njiru district of Nairobi, where the imam delivered a speech, in which he thanked the people of Qatar.

On this occasion, a member of the delegation, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sada talked about the role of the mosque and its importance as a beacon of the knowledge.

The delegation took part in the distribution of food baskets (consisting of rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil and baby milk) to 167 poor and needy families in the district of Njiru.

The delegation presented valuable gifts to some Orphans Sponsored by Qatar Charity in order to bring joy to their hearts, in addition to distributing food baskets to orphans.

On his impressions of the visit, Sheikh Abdullah Al Sada, said that the visit was successful by all standards, pointing out the Al Ahli Sports Club Team undertook to build a mosque and a school outside the competition, in addition to the club's commitment to marketing its project within the framework of the competition.

Third Round

Ahmed Al Ali, Assistant Executive Director of the Executive Management of Media and Communication and Program Supervisor revealed that the third round of the “Competitors2” Program will be held between new contestants, noting that the announcement of the winner team will be made before the holy month of Ramadan.

At the end of 2017, Qatar Charity launched the second season of the “Competitors” Program, which gives opportunities to various community institutions to participate in the charitable, humanitarian and developmental work as well as in creative community marketing with new, innovative, interesting and loving ways.

QC distributes fresh meat to 2

Around 2,267 poor families benefited from the fresh meat project implemented by Qatar Charity in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the General Department of Zakat at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

The Director of the QC office in the Gaza Strip, Engineer Mohammed Abu Haloub said the fresh meat project, implemented at a cost of about QR 135,000, contributed to alleviating the suffering of a large number of Palestinian families living under the deteriorating economic conditions.

Abu Haloub pointed out that most of the families benefiting from the project suffer from insufficient income, as they have no breadwinner, noting that Qatar Charity works hard to lessen their suffering through donations that it gets from philanthropists.

He added that a contract was signed with a company specialized in supplying cows, slaughtering, cutting, weighing in a healthy slaughterhouse according to Islamic laws, and then transporting them to the Zakat committees in the different governorates of the Gaza Strip.

Qatar Charity targets the most needy groups such as orphans, poor, and People with Special Needs through its seasonal projects, including the Udhiya (sacrificial animals) project in particular, which are implemented every year by its office in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with partner organizations.

Qatar Charity has implemented a number of projects in the Gaza Strip during the last year 2017 to contribute to the development of the Palestinian society, which covered more than a dozen development sectors under activities, projects, programs and major sectors (social welfare, seasonal social and humanitarian work, economic empowerment, housing for the poor and reconstruction of destroyed homes, grants for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, education, agriculture, health, water and sanitation, cultural projects, Relief and Emergency Projects, and others). The QC’s interventions have benefited more than one million persons.

Qatar Charity continues to ease Syrians’ plight

During the last few years, Qatar Charity (QC), in cooperation and coordination with the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) and in partnership with many organizations, have launched many Relief Campaigns to continue to Support Syrian people within their country and the countries of asylum.

These campaigns aimed at meeting the urgent needs of the Syrian people struggling to survive under challenging humanitarian situations.

Recently, a delegation from Qatar Charity has distributed the first batch of urgent aid directly to the displaced in the country, and refugees in Turkish areas bordering Syria, in view of one of the largest Syrian displacements since 2011. The aid included 200 tons of relief materials worth over 14 million riyals to benefit 864,618 people. Another delegation is expected to deliver the second batch of aid to the Syrian vulnerable.

It is worth mentioning that the ‘Arsal Relief’ campaign, launched last year by Qatar Charity under the supervision of RACA, has benefited hundreds of thousands of people in Syria and the countries of asylum, focusing on providing urgent relief to those affected by snowstorms, frost and rain.

Last year, the needs of the Syrian people within their country and in the countries of asylum amounted to nearly 9 billion dollars, of which only 4 billion dollars were raised, meaning that only 42% of the 2019 needs were met, according to a UN report.

It is worth mentioning that during the last three months, according to United Nations, more than 900,000 people, 80% of them women and children, have been displaced, in addition to half a million children, who have also been displaced.

Qatar Charity urges people to contribute to “Sham Deserves” campaign for Syrians

Qatar Charity (QC), urged people to contribute to the national campaign named “Shams Deserves” launched in partnership with the Qatar Media Corporation to Provide Urgent Relief Aid to Syrian people in their country and he countries of asylum.

The campaign came within the framework of moral and humanitarian duty in response to the worsening humanitarian situation following the largest displacement in Syria in the past three months.

Launched on February 19, 2020, under the supervision of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA), the “Sham Deserves” campaign aims to deliver assistance to 250,000 Syrian refugees and displaced persons in the areas of shelter, food, water, sanitation, and health.

The campaign is implemented by Qatar Charity, in cooperation with the Qatar Media Corporation, Qatar Television, Qatar Radio, Sout Al Khaleej Radio, Alkass Sports Channels, Alrayyan TV, and Alrayyan Radio.

The campaign will include a joint live TV and radio broadcast on Friday and Saturday, February 28, and 29, 2020, by many media corporations to raise donations, in addition to some activities that will be held in commercial complexes.

Given the difficult humanitarian situation of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), Qatar Charity urges benefactors in Qatar to contribute to the “Sham Deserves” campaign to ease their hardship, as they are struggling to survive under the very harsh cold weather, heavy rains, frosts, and snow. It also calls on media persons and social media influencers to publicize the campaign.

Benefactors can make their contributions to the campaign in many forms, including money, jewelry, and vehicle.

In conjunction with the campaign, a delegation from Qatar Charity has recently distributed urgent aid to the displaced in the country, and refugees in Turkish areas bordering Syria.

The aid included 200 tons of relief materials worth over 14 million riyals to benefit 864,618 people. Another delegation is scheduled to depart on Friday to provide a second batch of Aid to Syrian Refugees and displaced persons.

Qatar Charity: Humanitarian interventions and continuous partnerships for refugees

From 2019 to date, Qatar Charity has signed 16 agreements on refugee protection with several international organizations

Qatar Charity (QC) affirmed its continued keenness to ensure a dignified life for refugees throughout the world, and to work on easing their sorrow by implementing projects and initiatives through its field offices or in cooperation with partners like international and local organizations.

This comes on the World Refugee Day, which is observed June 20 each year to raise awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world, and this year, the day is being observed under the theme “Every Action Counts”.

Qatar Charity's relief and humanitarian intervention included providing winter aid and basic assistance in the fields of food, shelter, health, education, water, and social cohesion.

These projects benefited refugees and internally displaced people from several countries including Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Myanmar, and Somalia, in addition to Rohingya refugees.

Achievements

The total cost of the projects implemented by Qatar Charity for refugees and the displaced from January 2019 to June 15, 2020 is nearly 581 million riyals, benefiting 8,240,585 people.

Syria received the largest portion of assistance provided by Qatar Charity during this period due to the tragic situation of the displaced and Syrian refugees. This assistance amounted to more than 314 million Qatari riyals and benefited nearly 2.8 million people.

International Partnerships

From 2019 to date, Qatar Charity has signed 16 agreements on refugee protection with several international organizations, namely the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), UNICEF and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The affected of many countries such as Yemen, Bangladesh, and Syria, have benefited from these agreements.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity is linked to a four-year strategic cooperation agreement signed with UNHCR in Geneva in 2017, which aims at providing financial resources for refugee relief projects, and jointly funding them by both parties, with at least 3 million dollars annually.

These agreements have targeted several areas such as health care, water, education, food, and livelihoods.

Fighting COVID-19

Qatar Charity (QC), since the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, signed various cooperation agreements with several international organizations to contribute to the global efforts to limit the spread of the virus and provide emergency assistance to those affected, including refugees.

Qatar Charity, in cooperation with UNHCR, began providing emergency assistance to Syrian refugees throughout Lebanon in response to the humanitarian needs resulting from the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, as part of the $1.5 million signed between two parties.

Under the cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Qatar Charity has started to establish 14 community-based isolation units in northern Syria to benefit 2,800 people of camps at a total cost of US$1.6 million.

Qatar Charity worked with UNICEF to maintain access to safe drinking water and sanitation services for the benefit of Syrian refugees in Jordan. The value of the contribution amounted to one million US dollars, in addition to signing other agreements.

Largest Initiative

Last year, Qatar Charity launched the "For Humanity" initiative in cooperation with the UNHCR to provide aid to more than 300,000 refugees from Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, and Syria, in addition to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The ‘For Humanity (4H)’ is the Largest Humanitarian Relief initiative to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable refugees across the globe, and ensure they are safe, healthy and well-fed.
