In a strategic move to broaden its global humanitarian and development footprint, Qatar Charity (QC) has officially inaugurated its newest field office in Beirut, Lebanon. The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Nawaf Salam, Prime Minister of Lebanon; His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Charity; His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to Lebanon; alongside Lebanese ministers, parliamentarians, civil society organizations’ representatives, and officials from Qatar Charity.
With operations spanning over 70 countries, Qatar Charity continues to deliver aid through its field offices and partners, including UN agencies, international organizations, and local NGOs. Qatar Charity’s Beirut office marks the 34th field office in its global network.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani highlighted Qatar’s enduring solidarity with Lebanon under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar. He indicated that this inauguration reflects the spirit of solidarity that defines Qatar-Lebanon relations, emphasizing Qatar Charity’s mission to support both Lebanese citizens and refugees amid ongoing challenges.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Charity, underscored the organization’s dedication to being present within the communities it serves. “Opening our office in Lebanon strengthens our ability to respond effectively, plan collaboratively, and deliver impactful humanitarian work,” he stated. He expressed hope that the new office would serve as a launchpad for ambitious plans aligned with Lebanon’s national development priorities, implemented in coordination with relevant government bodies.
He extended heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, for his unwavering support of humanitarian efforts, and praised Lebanese President Joseph Aoun for facilitating charitable initiatives. He also thanked Prime Minister Nawaf Salam for his patronage of the inauguration of Qatar Charity’s office.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in his address, said, “The inauguration of Qatar Charity’s permanent office in Beirut holds profound significance. It is not merely an administrative step, but a clear testament to the depth of Lebanon-Qatar relations, and to the commitment of the Qatari leadership, government, and people to stand by Lebanon in its most difficult times.”
The Prime Minister recalled Qatar’s swift humanitarian response during the recent Israeli aggression and its pivotal role in supporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon. He expressed hope that this collaboration would evolve into a strategic partnership to support the plan for a dignified and sustainable return, in coordination with Lebanon, Syria, and relevant international organizations.
“We hope this office opens new horizons for direct and structured collaboration with the Lebanese state—paving the way for a genuine and constructive partnership that translates into development, health, education, and humanitarian projects,” stated the Lebanese Prime Minister.
Honoring
At the conclusion of the ceremony, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani and Qatar Charity’s CEO Mr. Yousuf bin Ahmed Al Kuwari presented Prime Minister Nawaf Salam with a shield in recognition of his contributions to Arab cooperation and humanitarian advocacy.
Ambitious Agenda
Qatar Charity’s humanitarian engagement in Lebanon dates back to the 1990s, primarily through partnerships with local organizations. Its interventions have targeted vulnerable Lebanese communities and refugee populations, benefiting over 483,000 individuals across sectors such as education, healthcare, housing, relief, and economic empowerment.
Looking ahead, Qatar Charity aims to implement more than 70 humanitarian and development projects in Lebanon between 2025 and 2027, reaching over 396,000 beneficiaries, including Lebanese citizens and Syrian and Palestinian refugees.
Qatar Charity’s global network of field offices plays a vital role in enabling the organization to assess needs, swiftly implement humanitarian interventions, and execute high-quality poverty alleviation and sustainable development programs. These offices also ensure direct oversight of projects, alignment with national policies and development plans in host countries, while strengthening ties with international organizations and partners.
