Qatar Charity's (QC) Ezdehar, an incubator for initiatives and volunteering, organized a first aid course to provide its volunteers with life-saving skills. It was held in cooperation with Hamad International Training Center (HITC) of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
The first aid course comes as part of Ezdehar’s keenness to raise awareness about correct rescue methods, ensure safety in emergency situations, and enhance participants' health knowledge. This training aims to empower volunteers to provide assistance to the injured in cases of accidents at the workplace or home until the medical assistance arrives.
The course, attended by approximately 35 volunteers over two days, was conducted by HITC’s trainers. It covered both theoretical and practical aspects. On the first day, key topics included cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), dealing with cardiac arrest in adults and children, artificial respiration with practical applications on mannequins, and training on the safe and effective use of a defibrillator.
On the second day, the course also covered how to deal with injuries, wounds, bleeding, burns, fractures, respiratory obstruction, and choking in both children and adults. Additionally, it included the procedures for evacuating and moving injured individuals, especially those with fractures, from one place to another correctly and safely.
Fatima Jumah AlMohannadi, Head of the Initiatives and Volunteering section, said, "First aid training will enable volunteers to contribute to saving lives, enriching health culture, and expanding community participation, adding it is part of the training courses offered by Ezdehar to contribute to disseminating health concepts and serve human and social development in the local community. She expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to HITC for accepting Qatar Charity's invitation to deliver the first aid course for volunteers.
On the sidelines of the first aid course for the volunteers of Ezdehar, Abdul Naser Saleem Irzieqat, Resuscitation Training Officer at HITC, said, “We offer such courses to the public to increase their health awareness and enhance their abilities in the field of first aid because they may arrive at the scene of an accident before the ambulance does." He praised the participants' interaction during the course and their eagerness to benefit from the information provided.
At the end of the course and in collaboration with Family Medical Establishment, first aid kits were distributed to the participating volunteers. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to HITC’s trainers.
