• Al-Yafei: The Housing units aim at achieving psychological stability for the poor and people with special needs.

QC handed over a number of housing units to the poor families in Mali as part of its intervention to combat poverty and develop community. Many families cannot acquire a proper housing due to their bad economic conditions.

Vulnerable Groups

Eng. Khalid Abdullah Al-Yafei, the Director of Operations Department at QC said, "QC's campaign aims at building a number of houses in Mali to enable the poor, the needy and low-income people to live a decent life. He stated that each house includes two rooms, a kitchen and toilets."

He added that QC handed over these housing units to the poor families in Mali who suffer very bad economic conditions and cannot acquire a proper housing, especially families that suffer from the loss of a breadwinner, or have a disabled breadwinner who cannot afford paying a housing rent.

Psychological Stability

He added that five housing units were handed over to the poor in Mali to realize a basic human right, which is the right to a proper housing. Owning a house would definitely make them much happier, would improve their educational and economic levels and would achieve psychological stability.

150 Projects

With the support of the Qatari philanthropists, QC implemented 150 income-generating projects for the benefit of the sponsored orphans' families. These projects aim to secure the families a decent life and help them integrate much better into the development and production process.

QC carried out various projects, for instance; sewing machines were distributed to some women, motorcycles were distributed to other families and livestock flocks (sheep or cows) were distributed to other Bedouin population.

With a contribution from Taraweeh Program, QC also opened a multi-service center in Massala village that is 50 km away from Bamako, the capital of Mali. The center includes a mosque, artesian well and other facilities and meets the 5000 villagers' need for drinking water as they suffered from water scarcity.

Ongoing Efforts

QC has effectively contributed to the development and humanitarian efforts in Mali since 2008. The humanitarian efforts included supporting the education and health fields, building houses for the poor, digging wells, helping poor families, taking caring of children, orphans and people with disabilities, implementing income-generating projects and providing seasonal assistance to the needy people in Ramadan and Eid Al-Adha.
