Qatar Charity lays foundation stone of village in Tanzania
Qatar Charity (QC) laid foundation stone for the “Village of the People of Qatar” in the Republic of Tanzania, which will include 110 homes for poor families and a number of basic facilities, benefiting more than 1,500 people.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Tulia Ackson, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Abdulhadi Al Mansouri, Charge d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Tanzania, Jasim Al Jassim, advisor to the CEO of Qatar Charity and Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Shahwani.
The houses will be built with materials suitable for the environment and weather of the Republic of Tanzania, where rainfall is high throughout the year.
Each housing unit of the “Village of the People of Qatar” includes two rooms and a hall with a bathroom and kitchen. The village will also be provided with a well, central reservoir, mosque, school, and other service facilities.
The village project will be implemented at the cost of QR3mn in Mwasonga, Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Tulia Ackson, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, thanked the people of Qatar for their efforts that reflect their humanitarian spirit, and for their generous giving to support the people of Tanzania in the implementation of various social projects, such as social housing, wells, education and health projects.
Abdul Hadi Al Mansouri, Chargé d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Tanzania, spoke about the role of these projects in establishing closer cooperation between the peoples of Qatar and Tanzania. He also thanked the donors in Qatar for their support for these qualitative projects that contribute to the provision of safe housing for many families in need.
For his part, Jassem Abdullah Al Jassim, advisor to the CEO of Qatar Charity, said, “The charitable and humanitarian projects carried out by Qatar Charity worldwide reflect the bright and civilized face of the State of Qatar in supporting the people and helping those in need across the globe.”
Hamad bin Mohammed Al Shahwani said, “This project is considered great hope for many families to live in appropriate conditions, which will provide them with a dignified life.”
He also thanked Tulia Ackson, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Abdulhadi Al Mansouri, Charge d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Tanzania, Jasim Al Jassim, advisor to the CEO of Qatar Charity, the people of the region and implementers of the project.
