Qatar Charity honors academically well-performing orphans in Ethiopia

Qatar Charity (QC) honored 197 academically well-performing male and female orphans whom it sponsors in Ethiopia, aiming to encourage them to continue their outstanding academic achievements, and bring cheer to them and their families.

The orphans, who have excelled in their studies in 2020, were honored in a ceremony attended by Qatar Charity’s office director, many representatives of partners, directors of charitable organizations, public figures and parents of students.

During the ceremony, prizes were distributed to the orphaned students who excelled in their studies and achieved first places in their classes.

Mr. Mohamed Ali Nediso, chairperson of a charitable organization, which is a local partner of Qatar Charity in Ethiopia, praised the efforts made by Qatar Charity to alleviate the suffering of the poor and needy in the country. He said that Qatar Charity’s projects reflect the true picture of the generous Qatari people who extend a helping hand to others in need.  He also thanked the benefactors in Qatar and Qatar Charity for making significant efforts and implementing distinguished projects, especially in the field of health and education for the benefit of orphans.

The director of Qatar Charity’s Ethiopia office Sayf al-Dawla expressed his great pleasure at honoring the orphaned students and bringing cheer to them, congratulating them on their success and praising their families’ efforts and perseverance to achieve this distinction.

He said that this initiative is part of the activities for the sponsored, which are organized by Qatar Charity within the framework of the social welfare program, noting that Qatar Charity will continue to sponsor orphans and students.

The parents and families of the students expressed their happiness with this honor, thanking donors and supporters for backing their children, especially in the field of education.

Qatar Charity sponsors more than 2,360 persons, and the number of its projects implemented in Ethiopia during the past five years reached 50, which benefited more than 300,000 people. It sponsors nearly 187,948 persons around the world.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity has launched the ‘I am not Just a Number” drive, as part of its orphan care initiative ‘Rofaqa’ to draw attention to orphans and provide a dignified life for them.
