Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a humanitarian initiative in Somalia aimed at enhancing the inclusion and independence of individuals with special needs.
The initiative aligns with the organization’s ongoing commitment to empowering persons with special needs and comes ahead of the Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled to take place in Doha from November 4–6, 2025.

Funded by the generous contributions of donors in Qatar, the initiative involved the distribution of assistive devices, including eyeglasses, hearing aids, white canes for the visually impaired, and audio Qur’ans. A total of 136 individuals with visual and hearing impairments benefited from this support, reflecting Qatar Charity’s deep-rooted humanitarian and developmental engagement in Somalia.

Mr. Mohamed Osman Saleh, Social Welfare Coordinator at Qatar Charity’s Somalia Office, commented: “This initiative is part of our ongoing programs to support persons with special needs by providing them with tools that enhance their opportunities for learning and social integration. At Qatar Charity, we believe that investing in people is the highest form of development.”

Earlier this year, Qatar Charity delivered 700 wheelchairs—both manual and electric—to support mobility for persons with special needs across Somalia. The organization provided monthly financial assistance to 192 individuals with special needs in Somalia, as part of its broader efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable social development.
