Officials in Kosovo laud Qatar Charity’s development projects

Ministers and local officials in the Republic of Kosovo lauded the development and relief efforts of Qatar Charity (QC) in the country, which benefited many of its regions, thanking the benefactors in Qatar for their significant support, which resulted in the implementation of important projects during the previous years.

Mahir Yagcilar, Minister of Public Administration, said Qatar Charity’s projects and activities contributed to meeting the needs of the members of the community in Kosovo, hoping that such activities would continue in the future.

For his part, Burim Berisha, mayor of Fushë Kosovë, a town and municipality in Kosovo, applauded QC’s achievements in the municipality, especially in providing water, building houses and giving relief, pointing out that more than 90 projects have been implemented in the municipality.

Agim Bahtiri, mayor of Mitrovica, hailed the nature of and quick implementation of QC’s projects, noting that this reflects the keenness of QC’s management to provide high-quality projects and services in record time. Qatar Charity has implemented 87 projects in the municipality of Mitrovica, Bahtiri added.

In 2018, Qatar Charity managed to implement 373 projects in the areas of sustainable development, education, water sanitation, relief and home construction at a total cost of QR6mn. These projects included 74 income-generating projects and 279 water and sanitation projects, in addition to 20 other projects including the construction of houses for the poor and educational projects.

Mahmoud Abbas Shaker, director of QC’s office in Kosovo, said, thanks to Allah the Almighty first, and then with the support of the people in Qatar, our projects, have achieved remarkable growth this year, benefiting 30,000 people in the country. He also pointed out that the office seeks to increase the number of projects in order to meet the needs of the Kosovar society.

He added that 23 agreements have been signed with the various governmental and local authorities in Kosovo during 2018 and the number of municipalities cooperating with Qatar Charity increased by 30%, noting that the office is seeking to diversify and develop its projects this year.

So far, more than 4500 students graduated from the Qatar Training Center established by Qatar Charity in the capital Pristina as a qualitative educational and training project. The center obtained a number of licenses and local and international accreditations, as it is considered one of the best centers working in the field of training and rehabilitation in Kosovo.

Qatar Charity also sponsors more than 3,000 persons, mostly orphans, and provides various health, education and social services for them.
