Sudanese officials praise Qatar Charity’s projects

Sudanese officials lavished praise on Qatar Charity (QC) for its humanitarian roles, social welfare programmes and outstanding achievements in various field such orphan sponsorship, healthcare, education, and sustainable development, which have contributed to enhancing stability and social peace in the country.

This comes during a ceremony organized by Qatar Charity in Khartoum to celebrate the World Orphans Day, in which 1,000 orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity and their mothers participated.

The celebration was also attended by Amal Al Bayli, Minister of Social Development in the State of Khartoum, Khalid Mohammed Al-Hajri, Chargé d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Khartoum, Ahmed Mohammed, Acting Humanitarian and Voluntary Aid Commissioner in Sudan, and Ahmed Senoussi, Director of Arab International Organizations in Sudan.

Varieties of activities were held to celebrate the orphanday, which included a number of plays and performing arts. Outstanding orphaned students were honored during the celebration due to their excellent academic performance.

Amal Al Bayli, Minister of Social Development in the State of Khartoum, applauded Qatar Charity for its significant humanitarian work in Sudan, pointing out that it has contributed to promoting stability, social peace, noble values, solidarity and compassion in all states of the country.

She also noted that Qatar Charity’s efforts have included many fields including orphan sponsorship, healthcare, sustainable development, water, housing, education, environment and other fields that support the stabilization of societies.

Mr. Ahmed Mohammed, Acting Humanitarian and Voluntary Aid Commissioner in Sudan, said Qatar Charity excelled in many areas that illustrated the values of doing good, contributing and carrying out humanitarian work.

He also praised Qatar Charity’s achievements in the fields of building hospitals, digging wells and sponsoring orphans, appreciating the support by the Qatari government to promote peace in Sudan.

The orphans sponsored by Qatar charity expressed their sincere thanks to sponsors in Qatar for their support after they lost their fathers.

For his part, Hocine Kermache, director of Qatar Charity’s office in Sudan said, the celebration of the orphan day coincided with the 25th anniversary of Qatar Charity in Sudan, noting that the number of its orphans reached 15,000 persons.

He added that the next period would witness the opening of a complex for orphans, which will provide housing facilities for 500 orphans, in addition to educational and cultural activities.
