Qatar Charity’s distance-teaching platform ‘Noon’ receives significant turnout

Some 43 students, including five persons with special needs, have joined the online course for the memorization of the Holy Quran, which is offered within the programs of ‘Noon’, a distance-teaching, training and empowering platform launched by Qatar Charity (QC) recently.

The qualified instructors teach the students the Holy Quran and the phonetic rules of Qur'anic recitation remotely through Microsoft Teams in view of the closure of the Holy Qur’an Memorization Centers due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The course offers individual and group classes, with eight classes per month, allowing direct interaction with the teachers. It is delivered from Saturday to Thursday in two shifts -- morning from 9am to 12pm, and evening from 4pm to 7pm.

Besides, the ‘Noon’ platform has offered remote training workshops to teach girls handcrafts, aiming at developing the crafting skills of the participants in their spare time of the summer vacation

Maryam Al-Abdullah, director of women’s branch of the Qatar Charity Center for Community Development in Al-Rayyan, indicated that the participants could add their own creative touches to their works during the training workshops.

The female supervisors of the training workshops follow up the artistic works and activities of girls through social media, providing them with the necessary instructions and recommendations.
