Qatar Charity (QC) announced the joining of the Qatari Champion Mutaz Barshim, as its humanitarian ambassador. This aims to support Qatar Charity’s efforts to spread awareness of humanitarian issues in the community, and garner support for its charitable projects and initiatives implemented within Qatar and globally.

This announcement was made at a ceremony attended by Qatar Charity’s CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, many social figures, media personalities, and social media influencers. During the ceremony, an agreement was signed between Qatar Charity and the prominent Qatari athlete Mutaz Barshim.

Under the agreement, the champion Mutaz Barshim will participate in various local and international conferences and the field visits of Qatar Charity, attend its events and activities, and market a project or campaign for Qatar Charity through social media. Besides, he will take part in organizing local fundraising events, in addition to adopting and marketing a charitable project, and contributing to educating the public about Qatar Charity's humanitarian efforts locally, regionally, and internationally.

Barshim is regarded as one of the best high jumpers in the history of athletics in the world, due to his performance development since playing in the youth and junior championships, then the adult championship in which he has been participating since 2013. Barshim managed to win the world gold medal to become the first player in history to win the title three times in the competition. The Qatari Champion won the title in three different versions: London 2017, Doha 2019, Eugene USA 2022.

“Qatar Charity is proud to have Barshim as its humanitarian ambassador,” said Qatar Charity’s CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, noting the great status and wide-scale presence Barshim has in the field of sprots at the local, regional, and international levels due to the successes he has achieved through his long athletic career.

He added that the voluntary mission of the international athlete Barshim and other well-known figures like him is a qualitative addition to charitable work, due to their influential role in spreading awareness of humanitarian issues and mobilizing support for projects and initiatives that serve the needy in poor communities and those affected by disasters and crises.

He indicated that Qatar Charity is keen to utilize all the energies, capabilities and experiences of individuals and organizations in carrying out humanitarian work to reach the best achievements and make the greatest impact.

On the sidelines of the signing of the agreement, Mutaz Barshim, for his part, expressed his delight with being the humanitarian ambassador of Qatar Charity, indicating that this comes as part of his duty towards the community and religion. He added that influencers from various fields should do voluntary and charitable work and contribute to raising awareness about humanitarian issues and serving those in need.
