Qatar Charity has signed a cooperation agreement with Lulu Hypermarket International Trading.

The cooperation will involve the marketing of the ‘Elkher Cards Project’ within Lulu Hypermarket International Trading outlets, providing an easy way for shoppers to donate to QC projects.

The cards will be on sale in Lulu outlets across the state, with all proceeds going to QC.

Elkher Cards

QC CEO Yusuf Bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, said: “Qatar Charity is very pleased and happy over the signing of this agreement with Lulu Hypermarket International Trading Company because they strive to serve the humanitarian message and the ‘Elkher Cards’ contribute to this by allowing shoppers to donate Qatar Charity.”

He added: “Qatar Charity has always sought to create partnerships with public and private institutions, in order to be able to achieve its mission and reach the largest number of target groups around the world.

Building cooperation

Al Kuwari stressed that QC is particularly keen on building cooperation with the retail sector in order that it may reach the largest possible number of donors, pointing to previous seasonal collaborations with Lulu, which raised considerable amounts of money.

The CEO praised the role played by Lulu within Qatari society and its eagerness to contribute to the wellbeing of the community and support and help needy groups through the signing of the agreement.

Mr. Chijan, Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarket International Trading said: “Lulu Hypermarket International Trading wishes to play an important role in social responsibility via this collaboration with Qatar Charity, on the basis of the values ​​and norms of our society and community interdependence with the various segments of society.”

Ali Gharib said: “Qatar Charity works to provide charitable support through various marketing outlets and this card allows shoppers to provide for the needs of poor families by having their funds transferred directly to Qatar Charity.”

Elkher shop application

He concluded: “The Qatar Charity application allows you to choose the exact area to which you wish to donate at participating malls by showing a barcode through your mobile phone to the cashier who then adds the amount to the shopping, rather than having to seek-out collectors.”

Aldarahim project

QC entered into a previous cooperation agreement and partnership with Lulu Hyper Market Trading Company, allowing customers to donate their small change for the benefit of charitable projects inside and outside Qatar.

Qatar Charity signed a cooperation agreement with the Children's Literature Centre. It aims enhancing the joint work as part of the campaign "Tobacco-Free Nation 2" that targets primary school students, whereby the center writes a story supporting the campaign's program, and QC, then, makes it an animated movie.

Promoting Values

Ali Atiq Al-Abdullah, QC's executive director of local development, said, “Qatar Charity cooperates with all public and private organizations to contribute to local development and values' promotion, stressing that signing the agreement with the Children's Literature Centre is to support "Tobacco-Free Nation" campaign."

Al-Abdullah looks forward to implementing further joint work with Children's Literature Centre in the field of education in general, and childhood programs in particular, pointing out that this agreement will enhance the success of the campaign that aims at combating smoking.

Awareness raising

For her part, Mrs. Asmaa Al Kuwari, Head of the Children's Literature Centre said, "QC signed a cooperation agreement with Children's Literature Centre to protect the local community from the harms caused by smoking, mainly the children.”

She pointed out that the center, which was established five years ago, has ample experience in making presentations and telling stories that attract children's attention to this important topic. It also participated in many regional and international conferences and seminars.

A Broad Partnership

She stressed that Qatar Charity (International Charity Organization) will realize the campaigns' objectives as the Children's Literature Center deals with at least 10 thousand children a year through its partnerships with a variety of organizations within the country and abroad.

Mrs. Al Kuwari added that the Children's Literature Centre's vision is to present valuable  ​​content to the Qatari and Arab children.  She advised the parents to support this campaign by avoiding smoking in front of their kids, attending seminars and workshops conducted by those interested in this subject, assuring that the children's literature center offers programs that help parents deal properly with children.

The government of Somalia and Qatar Charity signed in Mogadishu a cooperation agreement in the Developmental and Humanitarian Fields.

Somalia's Minister of planning Jamal Mohamed Hassan signed the agreement on his government's part, meanwhile Qatar Charity signed through its CEO Mohammed bin Ali Al-Ghamdi. QC said in a statement that the agreement plans to expand cooperation with the government of Somalia in those two fields.

Qatar Charity's efforts aim to enhance sustainable development in the government. The efforts will focus on water supply, the return of refugees and providing basic services to citizens. Qatar Charity will also support economic revitalization efforts, particularly in the field of food security and reconstruction.
