Qatar Charity’ Winter Camp in Al-Shahaniya hosted two delegations from the Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care (Ehsan) and Orphans Care Center (Dreama) to bring the joy and pleasure to the elderly people and orphans and strengthen partnerships with community institutions and organizations.

Qatar Charity(International Charity Organization) hosted the elderly people of ‘Ehsan’ in the presence of students of Qatar University’s Social Work Program to achieve interaction between the community members and express gratitude and thanks for what they have done for the benefit of the community throughout their lives.

Qatar Charity aims, through this hosting, to encourage the elderly to participate in recreational and awareness activities that would make them happy.

Qatar Charity organized many activates, including chess and carrom, for elderly people at the winter camp in Al-Shahaniya, in which they took part.

Sheikh Ayesh Al Qahtani said that there is a need to learn the skills and techniques of dealing with elderly people in the best ways that increase their self-confidence.

He pointed out that the respect for the elderly is very important in our daily lives to gain the experience in order to build better generations and a brighter future, citing the words of our Prophet Muhammad, (peace be upon him), " He is not one of us who does not have mercy upon our young, respect our elders, and command good and forbid evil”. (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi).

It is very important to reinvigorate the interest of the elderly people in the life and make them feel that they are responsible for us, even at this age of their lives, Al Qahtani said speaking to elderly mothers and students from Qatar University.

Adel Lamy, Director of Public Relations Department at Qatar Charity, said We are pleased to host the various community organization and bodies in our winter camp as part of our partnership with youth clubs, schools, universities and institutions.

At the camp, we provide an atmosphere suitable for organizing various activities that entertain the beneficiaries, noting that our pleasure is multiplied when we host elderly people or orphans; because they have rights upon the community, Lamy added.

In a related context, the winter camp of Qatar Charity welcomed the children of Orphans Care Center (Dreama) to participate in the recreational and awareness programs and activities held at the camp.

A number of staff from Qatar Charity and Dreama, in addition to the prominent media persons including Nadine Al-Bitar, a news anchor at Qatar TV and Salsabil Zayed, an anchor at Sout al Khaleej  Radio took part in the activities organized by the QC’s Winter Camp in Al-Shahaniya as part of this visit of the children from Dreama.

On this occasion, the camp also held general competitions between orphans, and distributed prizes and gifts to the winners to encourage them and keep their spirits up.

It is worth mentioning that the winter camp of Qatar Charity in Al-Shahaniya lasts for six months, and provides a good environment to accommodate all segments of society and some days are devoted to families and school students.
