Qatar Charity launches the third season of its "Competitors" program

Qatar Charity, in partnership with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, launched the third season of its radio program entitled "Competitors" in a ceremony that witnessed the announcement of the participants in the first round of this season. Also, the partners and supporters of the program and participants in its previous seasons have been honored at the ceremony.

Community Responsibility

In this season, many employees from several ministries and governmental entities will compete in Charity and Humanitarian Work in innovative ways within the framework of social responsibility.

The activities of the season will continue for the next seven months starting from October this year and ending in April next year. This season is divided into three competitive rounds. Two teams, each representing a local body, institution, or initiative, will participate in each round. Some 6 teams are expected to participate during this season.

Decent Life

Addressing the ceremony, Ahmed Saleh Al-Ali, Director of Media and Communication at Qatar Charity, talked about the most important achievements made during the previous seasons of the program, and the impact it left on the participants and beneficiaries.

He pointed out that many development projects across the world have been funded and implemented through this program, its participants and supporters, considering all those who supported it as a partner in this achievement.

He expressed the hope that this season would bring more achievements to alleviate the suffering of the beneficiaries and help them to meet their needs for a decent life.

Realistic Program

Al-Ali reviewed the progress of the program, and how it turned from a mere radio broadcast to a realistic program by the support of its participants, as they significantly contributed in promoting it through social media and other means.

Al-Ali also thanked all those who contributed to the success of the program, especially Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, as it is a strategic partner in the program.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ezzedine Al Sada, assistant monitor of Al Quran Al Kareem Radio called on the public to listen to the third version of the program. He confirmed that Al Quran Al Kareem Radio would continue to support the program in view of its role in supporting humanitarian work.

He also noted that Al Quran Al Kareem Radio has allocated 60 episodes for the program during its previous seasons, which resulted in the implementation of more than 30 charitable projects in the fields of education, health, sustainable development, poor and needy relief and Orphan Sponsorship.

He also pointed out that this happened due to the participation and support of sports clubs, universities and telecommunications companies in the State of Qatar, and stressed that this falls within the responsibility of media to support charity work and its noble message.

In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Abdur Rahman Al-Harami stressed that we need to do charitable and humanitarian work to help the poor and needy people so that we can draw a smile on their faces and feel the pleasure of giving at the same time.

The ceremony also witnessed the announcement of the governmental bodies participating in the first round of this season, who represent the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and Public Works Authority 'Ashghal'.

Saud Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, the representative of the ministry, said “we are pleased to participate with you today in this meeting, which is in line with the efforts of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and falls within its social responsibility.

Yasir Mustafa Al Janahi, the reprehensive of the Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' expressed the pleasure over the participation in this season, stressing that it will be highly competitive, and support the humanitarian and charitable work through development projects, which will have a long-lasting impact on the lives of those in need.

The ceremony also included a presentation on the most important stages of the development of the program and its most significant outputs in previous seasons. The ceremony was concluded by honoring Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of Al-Ahli Sports Club, Salman Abdullah Abdul Ghani, a prominent Qatari citizen and entrepreneur, Azzedine Al-Sada, assistant monitor of with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Harami, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Buainain, Sheikh Khalid Moza, Mubarak Mustafa, Ahmed Khalil, Salim Bin Lakhan, Nasser Miftah and Ali Al Qahtani, in addition to the participants in the program including Abdullah Saad Al Saad, Wakra Live, Tawfiq Osama and Motassem Al Salama.

The Pleasure of Giving

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of Al-Ahli Sports Club said “we felt the pleasure of giving in the last season of the program,” hoping this would continue during the next seasons. He also thanked Qatar Charity and all supporters of the program for providing the opportunity to participate.

Innovative Ways

It is worth mentioning that the “Competitors” program aims at involving the Qatari community with new and innovative ways in charitable work through competition. It also aims at spreading the culture and values of charitable work through the media associated with such type of events and competitions held within the community in addition to increasing community solidarity in various fields and sectors to support humanitarian and charitable work

Qatar Charity launched the second season of the program at the end of 2017. The competitions were held between clubs, banks and the private sector to support charitable, humanitarian and volunteer work.
